How do I duel?
- Holster: hold the phone upside down at your side, barrel to the ground. With touch controls, press and hold the holster pad.
- Wait for the bell: “Ready… Steady…” then the bell rings and the phone buzzes. Draw too early and your gun jams.
- Draw, aim, fire: flip the phone up, tilt to aim, and tap anywhere to fire. The head hits hardest, arms and legs least.
- Reload: tip the barrel toward the ground (or tap RELOAD) to swing out the cylinder, tap once per round, then raise the gun.
You can read this again any time under How to Duel in town.
Motion aiming doesn’t work, or the game switched to touch controls
- The game switches to touch controls by itself when the phone’s motion sensors aren’t available.
- Open Settings → Controls, pick Motion or Auto, and tap Enable motion if it shows.
- On iPhone, if you once refused motion access, allow it again for the app in the iPhone’s Settings.
My aim drifts, or sits too high or low
Hold the phone the way you like to aim at someone straight ahead and tap Settings → Calibrate aim. Invert left/right and Invert up/down are there too, and so is Turn (gyro) aiming if you’d rather turn to track than tilt. Keep away from strong magnets, such as some phone cases and car mounts.
Roped, blinded or under fire?
- Lassoed: your view flips upside down. Shake the phone (or, with touch controls, tap fast) to fray the rope. You can swap the flip for a sway in Settings.
- Pocket sand, chili or smoke: swipe across the screen to wipe it off.
- Dynamite: shoot it while it’s in the air. The closer it gets, the more it singes you.
- Wasps: tap each one to swat it.
The screen rotates while I play
The game works in portrait and landscape. Hold the phone upright when you draw, or turn on your phone’s rotation lock.
No sound or no vibration
Check the volume and the silent switch, and Settings → Sound, Music, Vibration.
Can I play offline?
Yes. The Wanted Board, Quick Duels, target practice on the Straw Dummy and every shop work without a connection. The Saloon, gangs, pickpocketing and the leaderboards need the internet.
How do I duel a friend?
Both of you open The Saloon in town. One makes a four-letter code; the other types it in and taps Join. Or post an Open Challenge for whoever takes it up.
The Saloon or my gang won’t connect
Check the phone’s connection and try again in a minute. The online features use our game server at api.tenpaces.app. If you once typed another address under Settings → Online server, clear that field to go back to ours.
I bought gold nuggets or the Silver Saddle, but they didn’t arrive
Purchases go through Google Play or the App Store. If a payment is still pending (waiting for a parent’s approval, say), it arrives as soon as it clears. If the game closed during a purchase, open it again: it checks for paid purchases a few seconds after the town appears. You can also open the Gold Nuggets screen and tap Check for missing purchases, or Restore purchases for the Silver Saddle. Every purchase is delivered once. For refunds, use the store you bought from.
What’s in a Grab Bag?
One random item from the General Store. The chance of every item is printed in the store before you buy, and a Grab Bag is paid for with the dollars you earn in duels.
Moving to a new phone, or starting over
Progress, gold nuggets included, is saved only on your phone. There are no accounts, so we can’t move or restore it. To start over, use Settings → Reset progress and tap twice to confirm.
